Introduction

Anna Marie Cowens was born as Anna Marie Prozer Skerstad Cowens October 14, 1922. She was married first to Aaage Skerstad and they lived in Brooklyn. They were close friends with my mother and I and my twin Stewart and my older brother Johnny used to babysit her children while she, "Anne-Marie" and "Augie" went out with my mother and her boyfriend Johannes. In some places the name Prozer is spelled as Prozor. But it was PROZER for the 1940 census. Here is her last husband's obituary. Charles G. Cowens on Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at 10:30 PM. Age 68 years. Beloved husband of Anne S. Cowens. Father of nine children. Grandfather of nine, great grandfather of eight. A native of Essex, New Jersey and a resident of St. Bernard Parish. VICKERS, VERRETTE & DORNAN FUNERAL HOME, 3027 Jean Lafitte Parkway, Chalmette, in charge of arrangements. Services were private.
