Tom Lanagan After being orphaned in 1905, he and his older brother ran away from the farm that social services had placed them with and had a series of adventures getting out to Chicago. There they were able to locate an aunt and uncle on their mother's side (McCool) who took them in and raised them along with a younger sister who they sent for that was still in Boston.
