Sacramento Area Pioneers
This is the tombstone of Henry B. Heiken of Hanover, Germany who came to this counrty in 1851 by sailing 10 weeks across the ocean and landing in New Orleans. He eventually sailed again to California by way of Nicaragua and landed in San Francisco in 1854 and heading out to Sacramento to work the mines shortly after that.
Also shown is his wife, Margaret Egan Hiken. She had recently come over from Ireland with her dad and they married 12/10/1867 and had 9 children as they settled in the Yuba City area and later died there, 2 years apart and tho Margaret was much younger than her husband.
