BERNIE - Henry Barnes, 100, died July 19, 2007, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell.

Born April 18, 1907, at Formosa, Ark., son of the late George Washington and Tennessee Keck Barnes, he was a farmer, a wood worker and a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church.

On Dec. 24, 1934, he married Sylvia Augusta Dewitt who preceded him in death on July 18, 1985.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Billy Barnes and George Henry "Lefty" Barnes; three brothers, Alvin Barnes, Tollie Barnes and Andrew Barnes; and two sisters, Beatrice Malone and Macel Kerley.

Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Pat Barnes of Dexter, Larry and Darlene Barnes of Bernie and Danny and Debbie Barnes of Campbell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Don Walters of Dexter and Barbara and Kenny Trout and Gloria and Charles Dean of Bernie; one brother, Jessie Barnes of Bernie; one sister, Clara Taylor of Dexter; and 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie with the Revs. Rick Roberts and Steve Fitzpatrick officiating.

Burial will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in rural Dexter.
