Kiata Vanessa DelShon Harrell was born to Mary Harrell and Alfred Flood at 10 pm on July 17, 1974 at Sinai Hospital in Detroit, MI. She was raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord by her mother and step-father, Warren F. Griffin II, receiving Jesus as her Lord and Saviour at the age of 7. Kiata excelled in her academic studies and was awarded a journalism scholarship to Oakland University while still attending Pershing High School. Beautiful and talented, Kiata wrote poignant prose, modeled and performed vocally, recording and releasing her debut album in 1995. Kiata gave birth to her daughter, Lyric Raja Leigh Aazaad, October 2, 1996. Kiata and Lyric entered the Heavenly Presence of God in April 1998.
