Alexander Mitchell Palmer House 1919
The house of Alexander Mitchell Palmer, U.S. Attorney General, after a porch bomb went off at his house. Followers of anarchist Luigi Galleani had previously attempted to assassinate Palmer by mailing a booby trap bomb to his house.
Palmer hired a 24 yr old J. Edgar Hoover to head the Justice Department's Enemy Alien Bureau. He was always concerned about radicals acting against the government and issued a warning about a May Day "overthrow" on May Day 1920. Nothing happened and it became known as the "May Day scare."
