Arlie C. Coon And His Wife Lelia (Murray)
This picture is actually a drawing, artist unknown, and not a photograph. Arlie C. Coon, believed to have been born in 1870, was born in Juneau, Dodge Co, Wisconsin to Benjamin Frank Coon and Lucy Ellen (Gove). He married Lelia Murray, the daughter of James Ellison Murray and Elizabeth Melissa(Carl) on 25 Dec 1901 in California Mesa, Montrose Co, Colorado. She had been born 11 Jan 1878 in Bloomfield, Fillmore Co, Minnesota. Arlie and Lelia had three daughters, all born in Colorado: Marie aka Maria, born 30 Sep 1903; Annette "Nettie", born 3 Sep 1904; and Naomi, born 14 April 1906, died 2 Oct 1906. Unfortunately for their two surviving daughters, Lelia died 28 April 1906, two weeks after Naomi was born, on Arlie's birthday, and Arlie died 25 Oct 1911, both in Colorado. Arlie, Lelia, and Naomi are buried in the Ash Mesa Cemetery, located almost on the county line of Montrose and Delta Counties, Colorado. I want to thank Kristin Smith ([contact link]) for this picture.
