Billy Rex McClellan Military Service
Rank and organization: Private (E-1), U.S. Army, 224th Maintenance Company, Arkansas National Guard, Company A 1st Battalion 5th Training Brigade, place and date: Fort Polk, Louisiana, Oct 1965. Entered service at: Pineville (Izard County), Ark. Born: 13 Apr 1945, Mountain. Home, Ark., Deceased: 20 Oct 2003 Private McClellan served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War at a time when many did not support the military operations in Vietnam. He received a General Discharge under Honorable Conditions and after his death a Presidential Memorial Certificate from President George W. Bush. After his military service he was employed at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in Kansas and assisted the war effort by making ammunition for the troops in the field.
