Benjamin Butler, military governor of New Orleans, May-Dec. 1862, as Bluebeard, for challenging the behavior of the city's Confederate women toward Union soldiers. "John Bull" looks on in horror as Butler holds a woman by her hair in one hand and a large bloody cutlass in the other.
