Charles Wm. Burks and his sisters
Charles William Burks (1876 - 1965) and his sisters, Margie Burks-Strong-Melton (on left) and Mattie E. Burks-Painter-Eubank (middle), in 1934. Photo was probably taken in Hurt, Va. (in the Grit Community). These siblings were the children of Charles R. Burks (1836-ca 1885) and his second wife, Martha "Patty" Doss (ca1849-1894). Charles Wm Burks was married to his 3rd wife, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Doss, at the time of this photo. He was buried in the Doss Cemetery in 1965 (Grit Community)
