Donald Cameron Walker - Buried Treasure II
On July 6th, 2014 while metal detecting in Northern Ontario Canada, I was given the privilege of recovering a lost Sterling Silver Royal Canadian Air Force Birks Memorial Bar presented to the family of a fallen soldier during the Second World War.

72 long years later, I'm honoured to finally introduce you to:

Flying Officer Donald Cameron Walker.

The 27 year old, only son of Robert and Ethel May Walker of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada, was numbered among those who, at the call of King and Country, left all that was dear to him, endured hardness, faced danger, and finally passed out of the sight of men by the path of duty and self-sacrifice, giving up his own life that others might live in freedom.

Please join with me in my new found duty to ensure that his name not be forgotten.

Update // After nearly seven months of research, we have officially made contact with a surviving family member via Ancestry.com.

Officer Walker's Memorial Bar will likely be displayed along side his medals, as originally intended, at his local Royal Canadian Legion for all to enjoy!

Thank you so much for following along with us on this incredible adventure!

I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her. For more information about what we're building see About AncientFaces. My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
