Dorence Atwater

Dorence Atwater was a prisoner of war at Andersonville in the Civil War. 1845-1910. Born in Connecticut and died in San Francisco, CA. Parents were Henry Atwater and Catherine Fenn Atwater. He and Miss Clara Barton brought a collection of relics from the prison to be photographed for the Great National Fair in Washington, [external link] June 1866. The photograph can be found in the Library of Congress photo collection.
