Emerson M Bair
Emerson Matthew Bair was born on November 9, 1918 in Wellsville, Columbiana County, Ohio, United States of America to Chester Arthur Bair (1888-1962) and Pearl H. Bair (1897-1980). He had younger siblings Dorothy and Chester Bair. He grew up in Millcreek, Lebanon, Pennsylvania, USA and was a high school graduate of Millereek High School, class of '37. He registered for the draft on October 16, 1940, in Newmanstown, Lebanon, Pennsylvania at the age of 21. He then enlisted in the military on December 14, 1942, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and held the rank of Private. Emerson Bair entered the service in Dec. 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Barkley, Texas. Later he was stationed at Camp Granite, Calif. and Fort Dix, N.J. He was serving with the Infantry, and was overseas since March 1944. Pfc. Bair was in the Normandy invasion from the beginning. Sadly Emerson Bair was reported as killed in action in France, July 1, 1944. Read more at Newmanstown Soldier Killed in France.
