Frances Clalin Clayton
Frances Clalin Clayton was a woman who disguised herself as a man (called Jack Williams) in the Civil War. She was wounded at the battles of Shiloh and Stone River.
While she was born in Illinois, she served in the Missouri cavalry and artillery for several months, along with her husband who was killed in battle. She later married Elmer L. Clayton and had three children. They had a farm in Minnesota.
