George Brown, Crimean War General
British Lieutenant General Sir George Brown, G.C.B., K.H. a commander in the Crimean War and the Peninsular War. Born in Scotland in 1790, he was not only a noted general in war but he was also appointed Commander-in-Chief, Ireland, 1860 to March 1865.
He also served in the British army in America (Maryland). He died in 1865.
