Gordon L. (Jim) Angell Obituary
ONEONTA — Gordon L. (Jim) Angell, 67, of Oneonta, R.D. died of cancer at this home Friday, Oct. 8, 1999.
He was born in the town of Butternuts on Nov. 10, 1931, the son of Leon and Grace (Young) Angell.
Jim attended school in Mount Upton, and was a painting contractor in this area for most of his life except for 10 years in Texas City, Texas, prior to his retirement.
He married the former Katherine Franzese in Oneonta on May 11, 1974.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine, a son and his wife, Michael and Yvonne Angell of Otego, R.D.; two daughters and their husbands, Gail and Audie Yager of Oneonta and Debra and Gregory Horth of Hartwick, R.D.; seven grandchildren, Douglas and Corina Yager of Oneonta, Jonathan, Joshua and Jacob Horth of Hartwick, R.D., Nicholas and Nichole Angell of Otego, R.D.; a stepson and his wife, Joseph and Marietta Franzese of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Patricia Franzese of Provincetown, Mass., two stepgrandchildren, Sara Franzese at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas and Joey Franzese of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Bryan; brothers, Ronald, Roger, Robert and Rolland Angell; and a sister, Rose Beebe.
Jim's special interests were his woodworking — he crafted many original pieces of furniture for his home. He enjoyed working out of doors and spent many happy hours in his flower garden. He loved animals: His special cat `Charlie Brown` kept a vigil by his bedside all during his illness.
There are no calling hours or formal services. Jim's family will sustain themselves in their grief with fond memories of their loved one.
Jim's ashes will be interred at a later date in Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.
Those who wish may contribute in his memory to Catskill Area Hospice.
Arrangements are with the Bookhout Funeral Home.
