Grave stie of Thomas E.McManigell and Mary Bennett McManigell located at Strawn Cemetery,Strawn,Illinois.Grandparents of Robert E.McManigell. Thomas McManigal died Thursday,September 30,1897,at Neoga,Ill.He had been in poor health the past six months and went there believing the change would be beneficial.His remains arrived in Strawn on Saturday,and the funeral was held at the M.E. church.The sermon was preached by Rev.Leonard of Forrest.He was buried in the Strawn cemetery by the side of his wife,who died last September.He leaves three children and a host of friends to mourn his departure.Obit from Pontiac Freetrader 10/8/1897
Thomas McManigel,who left here two months ago,was brought back dead on Saturday from Neoga.The remains were accompanied by his brother,Charles,and a sister of Atlanta,Neb.The funeral services took place at two p.m.at the M.E. church,Rev.Leonard,of Forrest,officiating,and the remains were interred in the Strawn cemetery beside those of his wife,who died in February.A large number turned out to do honor to the departed,as he had been a citizen here for about fifteen years.He leaves three children,two boys and one girl,the oldest nine and the youngest five years of age.Chatsworth Plaindealer 10/8/1897
Mrs.T.McManigel,who had been confined to her bed for some time past with consumption,gave birth on Tuesday to a girl baby,which died the same day.The mother is not expected to survive.Chatsworth Plaindealer Feb.19,1897
After an illness of many months Mrs.Thomas McManigel departed from this life at 11:50 p.m. on Thursday,surrounded by her relatives,who deeply mourn her loss.Consumption was the disease,and not until a few days before her death did she realize her condition she did not want her dear ones out of her sight until the end came.The funeral services were held at the M.E. church on Saturday,Rev.A.E.Leonard,of Forrest,officiating,and the remains were interred in the Strawn cemetery,a large cortege following them to their final resting place.She leaves and husband and three children,who have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement Plaindealer Feb.26,1987
