Great Grandfather Golden Wood

Parents - Walter Nutter Wood and Eudalia Tabitha Lampton Wood. 3 Brothers; Beverly Walter Wood, Forrest Elmer Wood and Camie Cecil Wood. Family migrated from Sni-A-Bar (shnA bar) Missouri to Shasta/Modoc County California by covered wagon in 1881 - 1882. Goldon was partially deaf until a doctor trying to repair Goldon's hearing made a mistake and broke both of his eardrums causing total deafness. Goldon was cousin to Samuel Langhorne Clemens. His Wood - Lampton hertiage extends on both sides to old Virginia. Family names include; Wood, Lampton, Corum, Nutter, Claige, Von der Lindt (Funderlind & Lynn) Lauderdale, Franklin.
Goldon met Amy Ruth Hopkins at the Berkeley School for the Deaf. Amy had hereditary partial deafness from 'Waardenburg Syndrome'. Amy is a descendent of Steven and John Hopkins and this disease afflicts many female members of the family.
Goldon and Amy had 8 children, 3 of whom are still living at this writing.
Goldon's brother Beverly was my Great-Grandfather.
