He served in K company 16th US Infantry from 12 April 1900 to 23 March 1903. Born in Nantrow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany on 23 December 1880, he emigrated to Kellogg, Iowa with his parents at 10 months old. He was proud to be an American.
