Herbert Johnson

Married: Ellen Jane Williamson on 27 September 1902 at 4 Emmett Street, Newtown, Wellington, New Zealand. Father: Edward James Deacon Johnson (1848-1904) Mother: Esther Hannah Phillips (1850-1909) Left New Zealand March 1916, and arrived in Melbourne, Victoria on 25 March 1916. Wife and 5 children followed in April 1916. A sixth child Zita was born in Sandringham, Melbourne in 1916. Abandoned wife and 6 children and established a defacto relationship with Florence May Geary (1897-1936). Fathered six more children (Keith, Doreen, Clifford, Reginald, Gloria and Phillip) in Sydney. First marriage brought to an end via divorce. A divorce suit filed in 1925 by Ellen. Herbert remarried in 1937 to Florence Louise Clarkson (nee Williams). They were legally separated by 1947/48. Herbert died after a fortnight's admission to Gladesville Mental Hospital and was cremated. Herbert was the second youngest child to Edward James Deacon Johnson and Esther Hannah Phillips.
