Hester or Layne Unknown Male Cabinet Card
I have no real information on this photo at all except for the fact that I found it along with other HESTER family photos. With that said, there were also LAYNE family photos in the box of which I discovered it. These are just two possible surnames for this man, but at this point it's all still up in the air. If anyone can help it is very much appreciated!
Thick stock cabinet card featuring curved edges. Both sides are white in color and have a flat matte finish. This photo shows a male posing for a photo at his apparent place of work. He is holding a hammer and a piece of wood while sitting on an old barrel. The background appears to be brick with a large opening to allow things through it. What exactly those things are I'm unsure of at this point. There appears to be a beam with rope hanging from it behind him as well and possible other "tools" for the industrial job place. Despite the appearance of having completely gray hair, his face is full and without many wrinkles (that can easily be seen that is). His vest appears to possibly have double breast pockets. The left breast pocket has what appears to be the rim of eye glasses. His hair is cut short and has been slicked up in the center, and his beard is quite apparent. His shirt is unique in it's white dotted design. Overall I am not used to seeing this style, and with no marks to give any indication of who, what, where, or when this is, I'm hoping someone out there will recognize him or be able to help me with my investigation of this possible ancestor.
One idea I have played around with is the possibility of the location being a Wine Cellar. This idea comes from the old wooden barrel that he is sitting on and the large opening in the apparent brick wall. I think it could be possible that it is a cellar behind him, however I can't say for sure.
