Hiram Comstock & Mary M. Woods
Hiram Comstock and his third wife, Mary Matilda Woods. Hiram Comstock was born in Burrillville, RI, Jan 1, 1829 and died in Boscobel, Wisc., Oct. 17, 1912. Mary Matilda Wood, Hiram's third wife, was born near Blue River, Wisc., Dec. 9, 1848 and died at Boscobel, Wisc., Aug 23, 1901. Her parents were Asa Wood and Ann Witt Wood. Hiram and Mary's children include Willam A. Comstock (b. July 10, 1874), Carley (born Jan. 1, 1872 d. May 18, 1884) and Bertha Adele Comstock (Mrs. John Henry King) born Nov. 18, 1872, Boscobel, Wisc, and George A. Comstock (August 25, 1884, Boscobel, Wisconsin to September 6, 1956, Los Angeles, California). (Sources are a letter, Dec. 12, 1848, to Bertha Comstock King from John A. Comstock of Del Mar, California and the funeral program for George Comstock.)

What a thrill to see this photo of my 2d cousin twice removed. I have several letters she wrote to my great grandfather, John Wesley Witt.
Thank you for posting. I will call the family that has those original references now. The letter to Bertha I mentioned above has the date Dec. 12, 1948, not 1848. Bertha was born in 1872. Sorry for the typo.
