Jack Benny
Jack Benny, comedian in radio, television and the movies. His wife, Mary Livingston, was featured in many of his sketches as were other memorable characters such as Rochester, his valet/chauffeur, Don Wilson, his announcer, Denis Day, his boy tenor naive employee, and Phil Harris, a wise-cracking band leader.
The "Jack Benny" character he played always insisted he was 39 (no matter how old he got) and was cheap, complaining about having no money and therefore not spending a penny. Jack Benny the person was generous with his time, talent, and money. I think his television show was one of the funniest ever on.
