James Hamilton

Photo came from the Powell family of Newark, NJ. I believe James Hamilton was born and grew up in NJ. He traveled to the West Coast in 1867 and settled in California in 1875. He is related to a Henry Hamilton in Iowa and has an Aunt Rachel Hamilton in Newark, NJ. He also has family ties to the George Randell family of Newark, NJ. Photographer's stamp on back of photo reads, "Dames & Hayes Photographic Art Gallery, 715 Market St, San Francisco."
