I am trying to find out what the middle initial stands for. This picture was passed on to me from my mother, Bessie Lorene (Hopkins) Herring. Her father was Thomas Ewing Hopkins and her mother was Harriet Ann (Hass, Hoss) Hopkins. My grandfather, Thomas Ewing Hopkins, was born on June 1, 1866 at Truxton, Lincoln County, Missouri.
I am not positive this was the date of James S. Hopkins' birth -- but the dates and area seem to fit.
My mother was the youngest child born to Thomas E. and Harriet Ann Hopkins.
