I am researching my fathers family. The family members have gone by two diffrent names , Hawley and Holley, swithching back and forth as they pleased. My G-Grandfather was born in Pa. as were the family members that I know of. Census records state that my GG-Grandfather was born in NJ and his birth must have been around 1800. I know that my G-Grandfathers name was Daniel Hawley, b 1829 in Pa. he married Arminda. There is a Daniel Hawley/Holley who served in the 54th Pa. Infantry in the Civil War. I believe that this is my Daniel. There is a close connection to the Shawnee Indian tribe in my fathers family. There is a possibility that it could be through my grandfather, George Franklin Hawley's second wife and my Grandmother, Emma Brown.
