Civil War General, South. Parents: Amos Bird and Claudia Bellinger Northrop> Amos' parents were Joel Prout and Sarah Bird Northrop. His niece, Sarah Bird Northrup, married John Ridge, a Cherokee. Prior to this time, the Northrop/Northrup families were from CT. Amos Bird Northrop may have been the first to move South. The Bellinger family was well connected socially in S.C. Before the War, Lucius was listed as a physician. They lost almost everything in the War and afterward, he is simply listed as a "farmer". ... show more
