This darling little girl lead to the invention of the telephone. Mabel Gardiner Hubbard married Alexander Graham Bell when she was 19. She became deaf at the age of 5, due to a bout with scarlet fever. Alexander Graham Bell was interested in restoring her hearing, leading to the invention of the telephone.
