She was born near Luarca in Barcia, Concejo Valdes, Asturias, Spain. Her actual birth was July 16, 1925 but was registered on July 21, 1925, so this is the date on her legal documents. She passed away on February 15, 3013 in Orlando, Florida, USA. She moved to Havana, Cuba when she was 21 years old, and married Luis Alberto Mederos-Martinez on February 9, 1955. She had a son, Luis Alberto Mederos-Perez on July 4, 1958 in Havana, Cuba at Centro Asturiano de Covadonga. She returned to Barcia in 1961 with husband and son. On December 8, 1963, they moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico. She had a daughter, Maria Matilde 'Maritily' Mederos-Perez on August 15, 1964 in Hato Rey , San Juan, Puerto Rico at Hospital Guadalupe. Matilde and husband lived in Houston, Texas, USA in the late 1980's. Later, they moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico for a few years, before moving to Orlando, Florida, USA on December 29, 1992. She lived in Orlando until her death from pancreatic cancer.
