Carl Freiderick Keister
Carl F. Keister (Kister) came over on the Herder Ship in 1881, with his family: wife, Theresa, and son Charles Freiderick. They also had a daughter with them that was only about 6 months old and she died aboard the ship. Her name was Hedwig. Carl was an engineer who was able to get a machinist job when the family arrived in Chicago. He was my Grandma Alma Helen's father and she was born in Chicago.
