Peyote Theology
Reuben Taylor (Isotofhuts) was a Cheyenne native American who used peyote. He studied English and Theology in Kansas and became a Christian minister but he told a Congressional committee in 1918 that he had used peyote since 1886. Reuben said that peyote had cured his leg and allowed him to walk without crutches. He was also arrested and tried in 1899 for eating "mescal beans."
