Plain of Jars
Frank Tatu with one of the mysterious jars on the 'Plain of Jars' in Laos. These jars weigh over 2000 lbs; origins and purpose unknown.

The mystery is how the hundreds of jars came to be on the Plain. They are of granite, not an indigenous material, and of such weight that it would have been a major effort to move them. Their purpose is speculated to be burial urns, but this is not substantiated. No contemporary written records pertaining to the jars survive.
