Ridgeway church is the oldest church in Gilmer county, built during the civil war. Nancy Pankey saved that old log church. When she was an old woman, some new church members decided they wanted to get rid of the old log structure and build a modern church. That old lady sat down in front of the bulldozer and wouldn't budge. She said that church was built by Civil War veterans-her late husband included and she wasn't going to see it destroyed.
