Sam Bass & The Gun That Killed Him
On the back of the postcard that bears this picture, it says: "Sam Bass 1851-1878. Born in Indiana, Bass robbed stages, banks and stores from the Dakota Territory to the Mexican Border. His most noted robbery was the Union Pacific in 1877 of $60,000 at Big Springs, Nebraska. Bass was shot by Texas Ranger George Herold at Roundrock, Texas. Photo belonged to and identified by Texas Rangers Captain Pat Dolan. Photographer, Wm. Hover, Beatrice, Nebraska. Insert: Colt .45, ser #29569 that killed Bass.
