Unknown ancestor
This is a photo of an oil painting from around 1750, professionally based on hair (powdered) and neckline. It was in my grandparents collection, but I do not recall ever seeing it before I recently received it. It is a mystery, but could be a McNeil or Gilman. Probably painted in New England or Canada. It is on a linen canvas.
Date & Place: in USA

I have lots of unidentified photos and even tintypes. Family came to California from Maine (Noble and McNeill), New Brunswick, Canada (McNeill) and New York in the late 1800s.
