I located a David W. Courtney...He is listed in F Company as a Private, age 18, entered 05 Jun 1861, 3 yr Service, Transferred to Co. A 01 Jan 1864, veteran. In Co. A he is listed as a Sgt.. He was appointed Cpl. 01 Jan 1864, Appt. Sgt. on 19 Oct 1864. Promoted to Com. Sgt and transferred to Field and Staff 20 Feb 1865. David Mustered out w/ regiment on 05 Dec 1865. I am not sure if this is the same person but I can tell you this is the only Courtney listed in this reference under the name of Courtney in the 13th Regiment OVI
