The war effort (World War II)caused a need for fur! The public donated their furs (that were used to keep soldiers warm) and one day a week, fur industry workers made vests from them. (The War Emergency Board of the fur industry formed a fur vest project.)

This is a photo of a "Daniel Boone" hat that was donated by a hunter. It's being worn by a fur industry worker.
