Whit (1893-1976) b. to John David Love Whitaker & Cornelia S. Ingram in Como, MS. Brother, John m. to Ida. Father died early; he quit school after 8th gr. and became successful in Esso. Cornelia played violin, Whit played trumphet and Johnny played flute. Lived adult life in Memphis, TN. m. 1) Juliette Graham & 2) Mrs. Margaret Hinson Black. No Issue.

Cornelius' first wife's Obituary Obituary - Memphis, Tennessee Mrs. Whitaker, Musician, Dies Pneumonia Is Fatal to Wife of Standard Oil Co. Official Mrs. Juliette Graham Whitaker, wife of Cornelius M. Whitaker, Standard Oil Co. official, died at 2 a.m. today at Baptist Hospital of pneumonia. She was 41. Daughter of the late Stella M. and George C. Graham, Mrs. Whitaker was born Feb. 1, 1896. She was educated at Waverly Institute, Byhalia, Miss., which was conducted by her grandparents, the late Professor and Mrs. A.M. Moore, and was graduated from Radnor College, Nashville. She taught school for a number of years, then took up the teaching of music. Mrs. Whitaker was an accomplished pianist, studying for a time at the Chicago Conservatory of Music. During her girlhood, she was president of the Junior Beethoven Club. She kept her music until her death, and her playing afforded much pleasure to the many friends who visited her home. For some years she played the piano in the Sunday school of St. John's Methodist Church, of which she was a member. Mrs. Whitaker leaves her husband and a sister, Mr. Floy Graham Novitzki. She was the niece of Mrs. L.B. McFarland. Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at her home, 2120 University Circle. Rev. C.C. Daniels and Rev. R. Girard Lowe will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood, with Thompson Brothers in charge. Pallbearers will be: Carl L. Williss, John W. Maden, Adolph T. Schulze, Abe Bannet, Garland L. Thompson, V.V. Dupratt, Gordon B. Hale, Norman M. Eckert
