Portrait of Anne Gertrude Arthur , my paternal great-grandmother. A real 'southern belle'. She was born December 12, 1858, in Maysville, NC and died February 28, 1885, from a comdition she had since she gave birth to dgtr, Blanche, who died in very early childhood. Anne gave birth to two children who lived: Kathryn Ann Lanier and William Edward Lanier. Anne was married to Council Wright Lanier.
