Sergeant Frederick Arthur Halkett was born in New York City. During WW1, and after army training at Fort Upton, New York, Fred served overseas in France as a U.S. Army Sergeant. His Army service number was: 1 697 880.
Fred spent most of his working career with the Public Service Gas and Electric Company of New Jersey, first as a bookeeper and then as a customer service representative.
He married Ruth Thelma Jonsen and the couple settled in Madison, New Jersey. They had two sons Frederick Arthur, Jr. and Theodore Robert.
