I did a search for the name on the engine of the train. It appears to be the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad. It took a while for construction to get into full swing, but I think finally did so in the mid-late 1870's. If you look up the information on the railroad, it might give you some insight into when and where this photo may have been taken. Good luck!

It took a while for construction to get into full swing, but I think finally did so in the mid-late 1870's.
