Date taken : 1906 Description : Young man of about 20 years of age in what we believe to be a Norwegian uniform? Can anyone idenitfy this man, my uncle, as SOREN SORENSEN of Mjondalen, Norway? Oldest son of Josephine and Peder Sorensen. Born December 8, 1886. Died April 17, 1916. Have been told he died in San Diego, California, but can find no info or death certificate in California. May not have died there. Looking for any info on him and on place of death and where buried. Also, an identification that this is, in fact, a Norwegian uniform.

Comments about this photo:
This seems to be a dress uniform of the USMC from the Spanish-American war. Note the Globe and Anchor cap device and belt buckle. San Diego still has a large Marine Corps presence. Check the USMC records. The Marines are careful about deaths in service. Submitted by: hwalkerharris May 12, 2003
