Comments about this photo:
Looking for AGEE line that moved from TN to ARK before 1850. My great-great grandmother Sarah Catherine Agee, b about 1842, TN married John Henry McLain, b 1837 TN. They married July 23, 1857 in Lawrence County, ARK near Walnut Ridge. Their son William David McLain, b 1859 AR is my great grandfather--who married first to Cordelia Mosier (died 1897) and then married my great grandmother Clara Cooper from Monroe County, Brinkley twp, Ark. William David McLain settled in Newport, Jackson Co., ARK where he owned a sawmill and operated a land and lumber company with a Holden son-in-law (Holden married Elizabeth "Lettie" McLain born to first wife Cordelia Mosier). Wm. David McLain also served as Jackson Co., ARK judge from 1914-1919.
I am particularly interested in any clues leading to discovery of my Agee family roots from TN--and any history on the Agee and McLain families in eastern Arkansas. Submitted by: audstan Nov 5, 2004
