Susan B. McNew Burnes, was the youngest child of 10 born to Frederick J. McNew and Charlotta/Scholottie Box. They immigrated to Texas from Henry Co. Missouri in 1854, buying land in Travis and eventually settling near Oatmeal, Burnet Co. TX. She married William W. Burnes, having 8 children. He left her when several of the children were small, and she continued farming and raising the children herself. She died May 8, 1938, in Lampasas, Tx, she is buried in Center Cemetery, Lometa, Tx. The photo quality is poor, but you can pick her out, she's the thin older woman in the middle. Others are descendants.
