Date taken : 1860 Description : The original of this picture is printed on tin - an example of the early photographic art - "tintype". It came in an old oval frame itself over 100 years old. The people are Jane Ripley (1788-1861) and her husband, William Trueman (1780-1861), the second grandson of the original settler who landed at Fort Cumberland (Fort Beauséjour) in May 1774 off the ship Albion that had sailed from Hull, England. The original family came from the Hawnby area of Yorkshire, North Riding.
