Description :
This picture of Ed & his sister, Sue Riley, was taken in Arkansas after Ed joined the Navy. My father's name was William Edward RILEY, b. 12 May 1916 d. 24 Oct 1967 both in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. He married my mother, Mildred Viola SILMON, (b, 22 Aug 1918 Grubbs, Jackson County, Arkansas and d. 07 Jun 1988 in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas) m. 30 Apr 1938. William Edward RILEY was in the Navy in WWII (Squadron 466) and he is buried in the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas. My father was known as Ed by family and friends.

One of his brothers was George Matthew RILEY b. 04 Sep 1911 d. 03 Jun 1968. They had 5 additional siblings, Margaret "Pete"(Riley) Homan, Susan (Riley) Strode Kelly, Thomas Jr, "Bud" and Paul. We have lost all contact with Uncle George "Toad" Riley's son, Mack. George Mack Riley was in Wichita, Kansas living close to the VA Hospital where his father died. He paid the funeral expenses and the plane fare to bring his father back to Fort Smith to be buried next to Ed Riley in the National Cemetery.

Mary Josephine (Crawford) CRAUGHEN, his mother, was born 31 May 1881 in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas and died 25 Jan 1951 in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. She married his father, Thomas Patrick RILEY, 26 Feb 1906 in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. Thomas P RILEY was born 14 Oct 1873 in California (per the 1920 Census) or Colorado (per the 1930 Census) and died 09 May 1953 in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. Their ancestors are unknown.

Any information on this family would be appreciated. Thank you.
