David Benge, born about 1760 in Virginia and died in 1854 in Clay County, Kentucky. A Revolutionary War Soldier (North Carolina Militia) and a soldier in the War of 1812 (Kentucky). This photo was shared with the family by mjwoh710@aol.com.

King David was my gggggrandfather. Cool fellow. His grave is clearly marked and there is a road (a little one) named after him near Fogertown, Clay County, Ky. He was NOT an Indian, nor did he have Indian blood. I've got some interesting information about him. If I recall accurately (it's been awhile since I've read up on him) his brother married an Indian woman, the mother of the famous Cherokee, Sequoya (sp). I am related some how to king david benge,, my great grandma and grandpa is barton and lucy buttery wich lucy is a child of 13 of Elihue allen and Mary amanda garland (allen) Elihue allen also had 3 other kid's with a woman named susan benge one named Flossie benge and can't remeber the other two names,, So am trying to find out how King david benge is realted to me or what would he be to me,, great great great etc grand pa or what,, or if king david is realated to the buttery side also,, Barton buttery's dad IS robert buttery and eva butter,, robert's buttery's dad is samuel buttery,, so please email me if some one can explain this better to me,, thanks leedawn

I descend from the "King" David Benge line.
My GTGtGrs were "Bear Creek" Jim Bowling & Martha/Patsy Benge from Bear Creek, Clay Co., Kentucky(this was on my mother's side).

From NARA Revolutionary War Pension Record #S.38530, & War of 1812:
David "King David" Benge,born August 1757, AlbemarleVa,died 1834 son of THOMAS BENGE, Jr & SUSANNAH LEWIS.Enlisted in Rev War & War of 1812.Married LUCRETIA PERRY. They had 11 children. contact submitter for much more info.
