This photo was taken the year after her Mother died. She was required to leave school and take care of her younger brothers and sisters. She became their Mother figure. Grandfather had a good business, a general store, in Carrolltown, PA. My Mother also had aunts two houses up that helped. They were my grandmother's sisters.
