Description : This is a photo of my great-grandfather taken between 1910-1917 in a uniform I cannot identify (Poland, Germany, or Austria I suspect).
Mystery : If someone could assist me in determining the specific year and/or nation of origin of this uniform, I would be very grateful.

Eric,
I was intrigued by your photo. I did some searching on the internet. It looks like the answer lies in the helmet. I can't make a guess exactly where your ancestor was from because the image wasn't clear enough, but maybe your original photo is clearer. Try this link http://www.diggerhistory.info/pages-uniforms/german.htm The helmet's insignia links them to a German kingdom. Good luck and hopefully you can determine the insignia. My guess is Germany. With a last name of Trzinski, he is probably from Prussia. Submitted by: docvi Aug 10, 2004
