John Wesley Vallance born 4 February 1888 in Denton County, Texas and died 15 Mar 1973 in Memphis, Hall County, Texas. He was the son of Henry Green Vallance and Elizabeth Gollihue. Henry and Elizabeth moved to Dallas, Texas from Greenup County, Kentucky and were married 9 December 1885 in Dallas, Texas. John married Emma Elizabeth McLear about 1912 in Texas. Emma was born 23 March 1891 in Texas and died 22 February 1981 in Memphis, Hall County, Texas. They were the parents of one son, Herman Adrain Vallance. John, Emma and Herman are buried in the New Fairview Cemetery, Memphis, Hall County, Texas.
John owned and operated a grocery store in Plaska, Hall County, Texas for several years before moving to Memphis, Hall County, Texas. He then owned and operated the Vallance Food Store in Memphis, eventually owning two stores in Memphis, Hall Co., Texas and three other stores in adjoining towns and counties. John was known for his big heart and compassion for his fellow citizens. John was this submitters half uncle.
